Let's try making something with tufting! #7 Cat scratching cover
Hello! I'm Chris, the manager of RUGMATAG, a tufting specialty store in Osaka.
"Let's make something with tufting!"
"Tufting is not just for rugs." This is a series that introduces tufting ideas that have expanded from such discoveries.
The appeal of tufting is that, depending on your ideas, you can easily create everything from interior decor items to practical items.
This time, we will introduce in detail the yarn and tools used, the size, and key points of production, based on the actual items made.
I hope this will give you some ideas when you wonder, "What should I make next?"
—A cat scratching cover in your favorite color.—
When you're wondering "What should I make next?", try this.
Try transforming everyday items into something a little more special.
This time, I tried making a cat scratching cover using tufting .
If you find the commercially available covers a bit boring, this removable cover is perfect for you.
🧵The yarn used is "Wool Yarn Seasonal Pick Up Color"
Choose from 10 carefully selected colors based on the theme of each season.
This time we used P42/DT-150/N45 .
It has a refreshing tone that blends in with early summer interiors.

🧩There are two design patterns!
① Simple two-tone
The combination of white and green makes it look like ice cream 🍦 🍈
② Create a three-dimensional effect with carving
A space age style design is created by using different pile lengths on a single color base of N45 .
I drew the lines with a 10mm gun, filled in the inside with a 16mm gun, and then carved it to create a three-dimensional finish!
Because it's your favorite, we want you to be able to use it for a long time.
Velcro (hook and loop fastener) is attached to the back of the piece and to the nail sharpener itself, making it removable.
The design allows you to reuse your favorite covers .
My cat loves wool yarn, so he loved this piece and kept rubbing it against it...so cute.

The appeal of tufting is the freedom to create
"It would be convenient if I had something like this" "It would be cute if I had all these colors" Even small ideas like these can be turned into reality with tufting.
As you choose the color, choose the texture, and get to work, you're sure to create your own personal favorite.
RUGMATAG will continue to introduce fun and easy tufting ideas and crafting tips on our blog.
