Wool yarn for tufting by Katsumi Takeoka

We would like to introduce some of our customers who are creating tufting projects using our wool yarn.

We asked supporting artist Katsumi Takeoka about his three-dimensional works, which he created by combining tufting and punch needles.

■Title

Manufactured in Hong Kong "Kumako Can"

Takeoka holds one of his tufting creations. It's a barrel-shaped design with a panda and flower motif.


I get a lot of inspiration from the city of Hong Kong when I create my works. Hong Kong supermarkets are a treasure trove of inspiration!

This piece was inspired by food packaging in Hong Kong.

This time, I have created a three-dimensional piece, the Panda Can, made in Hong Kong, which combines tufting and needle punching, something I have been aiming for since I started tufting!


The booth where Takeoka's tufting works are on display. The works are eye-catching with their panda and colorful designs.

The ground is tufted and the parts are finished with needle punching, and then combined to create a single piece.

■ Equipment and materials used

・AK-1 cut pile tufting gun
・Wool yarn for tufting
・Needle punch dedicated needle
・Medium-fine yarn for handicrafts

Craft yarn (green and pink) and three types of punch needle tools. Easy-to-use craft materials for beginners.

■ Future activities

This is the booth where Takeoka's tufting works are on display. The works are eye-catching with their panda and colorful designs.
