When you start tufting, do you ever have trouble figuring out where and how to set up the frame? This time, we've put together a guide on how to set up a tufting frame.
Environmental conditions for installing the tufting frame
The frame can be completely fixed
The tufting gun is pressed into the fabric, so if it is not fixed firmly, the frame will move. Also, if the desk is light, it will move, so care must be taken.
The frame can be set at just the right height
It will affect your posture when you hit the ball, so make sure to place it at a comfortable height. Poor posture can cause back pain and have adverse effects on your body.
Keep out of reach of pets and children
If a tufting gun is accidentally dropped, even an adult could get injured.
Also, beating in the wool will generate hair fluff, which may be inhaled by small children or pets, so it is best to do this in a separate room such as a workroom.
Will the noise from the work cause a nuisance to neighbors?
The tufting gun makes some noise when in use (around 80-90db, similar to a hair dryer). Please be mindful of the possibility of disturbing your neighbors. If you use it during the day, it should be fine to use in an apartment.
The issue of location will need to be resolved using the place you live or a rented studio, but finding a place that can be completely fixed and is just the right height can be surprisingly difficult.
How to fully secure the frame?
There are several ways to make the tufting frame completely stationary (so that it cannot move): either by placing it on a desk that is fixed to the floor, by placing the frame against a desk that is against a wall, or by having the desk itself be heavy.
Recommended desks for home tufting
Heavy desks are hard to find. Even if they are, they are often quite expensive. Few homes have desks that are fixed to the floor. Also, placing a desk against the wall can lead to layout issues and vibrations. That's why we recommend a desk with a height adjustment function. Desks with height adjustment functions have become popular recently, but in general they are convenient desks that can be adjusted to your sitting height to make remote work at home more comfortable, or to prevent sitting for long periods of time by working on a PC while standing. In fact, desks with height adjustment functions are very suitable as desks to install frames for home tufting.
First of all, it is quite heavy. It depends on the item, but desks with height adjustment functions are often very heavy, either to ensure stability or because they have machines attached. Therefore, it is easier to stabilize when installing the tufting frame and tufting. Also, the height adjustment function allows you to freely adjust the height. Of course, you want to adjust it to your height, but depending on the place you are typing, it may be difficult to type even if you adjust it to your height. It is very easy to type by lowering it when typing at the top and raising it when typing at the bottom. The electric standing desk from Alebert was actually used at RUGMATAG and was easy to use.
