How to maintain a tufting gun
Share
Hello, we are Tufting studio & shop RUGMATAG, a tufting workshop and equipment/materials specialty store in Osaka .
This time, we have summarized how to maintain a tufting gun.
I hope this will be helpful for those who have bought a tufting gun but don't know how to maintain it, or who are just maintaining it haphazardly.
Tufting guns are prone to problems if maintenance is neglected, so be sure to perform regular maintenance.
Items required for maintenance
At our store
・Air compressor
・Hair brush
・Thin cotton swabs
・Maintenance oil

We use these items for maintenance.
The recommended maintenance oil is AZ chainsaw oil .
*Can be purchased at home improvement stores

For maintenance at home, an air duster is easier to prepare than an air compressor.
Leaving hair and dirt behind can cause problems and malfunctions with the gun.
Maintenance method
Precautions
* Always turn off the power and unplug the appliance before performing maintenance.
① Remove hair fluff using a brush or air compressor.

At this time, turn the gear clockwise to remove the hair debris.
By cleaning while rotating the gears, you can remove even the smallest hidden dirt particles.

② Remove any hair debris that has oil on it.

The areas where oil is applied will become dirty with a mixture of oil and fine hair debris.
Use a cotton swab to remove any dirt that cannot be removed with a brush or air compressor.

Remove it thoroughly from the inside.

③ Apply maintenance oil to the area circled in red in the photo above.

Be sure to also apply oil to the opening and closing parts of scissors, which are used frequently.
If you use too much oil, it may cause hair floss to stick to the yarn or the oil may get on the yarn as you weave it in, so use a small amount of oil.
*If you apply too much, gently wipe it off with a cotton swab.
Then, rotate the gear clockwise to allow the oil to reach the moving parts.
Finally, turn it on and fire a blank shot to check that there are no problems with the tufting gun and you're done.
Cleaning steps ① and ② should be performed every time after using the tufting gun.
③The frequency of applying oil is once every 1-2 weeks for those who use it frequently, and once a month for those who don't use it often.
summary
This time we'll be introducing how to maintain your gun.
Tufting guns are very delicate machines, and lack of maintenance can cause problems and breakdowns, so be sure to maintain them properly to ensure they last a long time.
