ガンメンテナンスとラグ用接着剤の正しい扱い方

Gun Maintenance and Proper Use of Rug Adhesives

Hello!
My name is Chris and I am the manager of RUGMATAG, a tufting specialty store in Osaka .

"How do I care for my tufting gun after use?"
"How do you clean up the mixer and bowl after using glue?"

This is a question we often get from people who are new to home tufting.

In fact, poor maintenance of the gun is the most common cause of problems . If you continue to use it while leaving hair and dust behind, it will become slow and may even stop working suddenly.
Furthermore, if you prepare or clean up the adhesive incorrectly, the finished product may turn out poorly and the cleanup may be difficult.

So this time, we will introduce the essentials for enjoying tufting comfortably for a long time.
▶ How to care for your gun
▶︎Tips for preparing glue and cleaning up <br>We have summarized these in an easy-to-understand manner even for beginners.

Be sure to read it all the way to the end and make it a habit from now on!

1. Always clean your tufting gun after every use!

If you leave your gun unmaintained, hair will accumulate and cause problems or breakdowns. Be sure to take good care of it before you need to replace or repair it!

Remove hair fluff

After each use, be sure to brush off any lint.

- Use an air duster to blow away hair from small areas such as the inside of the motor and gears.

Pour oil

Oil is essential to prevent wear on the metal parts.

- After each use, or at least once every three times

・We recommend AZ chainsaw oil (high viscosity and easy to use).

Chainsaw oil, used for gun maintenance, is placed in the center.

・Oil pouring locations for AK-1 and AK-DUO → 9 locations circled in red in the image below

Front view of the tufting gun. Red circles indicate the moving parts that need to be lubricated.

AK-2 → 8 places other than the scissors opening and closing part circled in red above

2. Always shake the adhesive to mix the contents before use!

If the adhesive is stored for a long time, the contents will separate . If you use it while it is separated, it will lose its effectiveness and the application will be uneven, resulting in a poor finish to the rug.

① Shake well with the lid closed

②Make sure the contents are uniform

Ecoshell adhesive → Just shake it

RADITEX Anti-mite Type → Shake and then mix with a mixer until it becomes foamy like whipped cream.

3. Do not pour glue down the sink!

Tufting glue is made from latex, which hardens when it dries and is insoluble in water, so pouring it down the sink will clog your drains.
Be sure to wipe down the spatula, bowl, and whisk part of the mixer after use.

How to tidy up

1. Wipe off the adhesive with a cloth or paper towel left over from upholstering.

② Moisten with a spray bottle and wipe off again

③ Wipe off the moisture with a paper towel

4. For small parts (such as the whisk), let it dry a little and then rub it with your fingers to remove the pieces.

Summary | "Small habits" are important

・Tufting guns can be extended in life by removing hair fluff and maintaining them with oil.
・Shake and mix the adhesive before use to maximize its performance.
・When cleaning up after using adhesive, wipe it off, never pour it down the sink

If you put off maintenance, thinking "it's still okay," your gun may suddenly stop working one day... To prevent this from happening, it's important to make it a habit starting today .
