How to maintain a tufting gun
Hello. We are Tufting studio & shop RUGMATAG, which operates a tufting workshop and a specialty store for equipment and materials in Morinomiya, Osaka .
This time we have summarized how to maintain a tufting gun.
I hope this will be helpful to those who have bought a tufting gun but don't know how to maintain it, or who are just trying to maintain it somehow.
If you neglect maintenance of your tufting gun, it is likely to cause problems, so please perform regular maintenance.
Items required for maintenance
At our store
・Air compressor
・Brush to remove hair
・Thin cotton swab
・Maintenance oil
Our store uses and maintains these items.
The recommended maintenance oil is Azet Co., Ltd.'s chainsaw oil .
*Can be purchased at home centers etc.
For maintenance at home, an air duster may be easier to prepare than an air compressor.
Leaving hair and dirt unattended may cause gun trouble or malfunction.

*When performing maintenance, be sure to turn off the power and unplug the power outlet.
①Remove the hair with a brush, air compressor, etc.
At this time, remove the hair by turning the gear clockwise.
By rotating the gear while cleaning, you can remove hidden dirt.
② Remove the hair that has oil on it.
A mixture of oil and fine hair will adhere to the areas where the oil is applied.
Use a cotton swab to remove dirt that cannot be removed with a brush or air compressor.
Carefully remove the inside part.
③ Apply maintenance oil to the area circled in red in the photo above.
Also apply oil to the opening and closing parts of scissors that are in good working order.
If there is too much oil, hair may become more likely to stick to the thread, or the wool may get oily, so apply a small amount of oil.
*If you apply too much, please wipe it off with a cotton swab.
Then, rotate the gear clockwise to spread the oil to the moving parts.
Finally, turn on the power, fire it dry, check if there are any problems with the tufting gun, and you're done.
Perform cleaning steps ① and ② every time you use the tufting gun.
If you use the oil often, use it once every 1 to 2 weeks, and if you don't use it often, use the oil once a month.
